Day 63 Liz
So driving home late last night, I was doing my typical process of composing painting in my head and I had one of those moments that Elizabeth Gilbert references in her TED speech. I was behind the wheel but I need my sketchbook! So I tried to recreate it today but not very close I think. This is inspired by that rap/R&B song where some woman says over and over: "I whip my hair back and forth"

Day 60 Liz
Yes, I like to paint cheesy mythological stories. I've been dying to paint my version of the Birth of Venus for years and the design keeps morphing.

Day 46 Liz
Leigh Hyams instructed me to try every kind of art and that would make me a stronger painter. I suppose hieroglyphs count?

INSPIRATION
This photo is so inspirational. I love this more than a photo of Salvador Dali. It's the type I want to work with but have so much reverence for the photo itself I don't dare touch it. It'll go up on the wall in the studio.
It is Yuri Knorozov a Russian who discovered a Mayan manuscript while storming Berlin as a soldier during WW2. He was one of the first to decipher the Mayan code.

Day 44 Liz
People and plants; if this wasn't on paper, I think I would keep the drawings greyscale and make the entire background vermilion.
